There are horrible things which occur in everyone’s lives that are universally agreed upon, whether it be unrequited love, the financial burden of living in modern day society, or the current situation of living through a global pandemic. 
 
This novella features a framework story which intertwines all of the stories told within. The “narrator” (Jeremiah) is relaxing at home before heading to his night shift job. He can’t help but find himself fixated on a marathon series playing on the television called “Horrible Things”. As the stories progress, he takes time to reflect on his own life. Whether it's a Christmas time catastrophe, someone completing a dare, or a house party gone wrong there's one similarity throughout. The people in each segment of the marathon only have a short time before horrible things come their way.
